Frederick Loyd Traylor

Frederick Loyd Traylor, was born in Shreveport on December 14, 1949 to H.T. Traylor and Ruth Joyce Johnston Traylor. He passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the age of 63 after an extremely hard-fought, year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.  Fred called Shreveport home for most of his life, marrying the love of his life, Linda Beadles Traylor, also a Shreveport native, in 1972. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Linda; son, Shawn and his wife Anastasia; grandson, Ian Felix; son, Adam; daughter, Catherine and her husband Sean Parks; sister, Vida Traylor Yancy; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Fred graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1967 and attended T.C.U. and Louisiana Tech before serving his country in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB, Texas. Upon completion of his tour of duty, he returned to Shreveport in 1975 to join his father's budding sales agency business. Fred was a consummate entrepreneur, and over the subsequent three decades, he grew the father-son company into a diversified, highly successful enterprise, creating many local jobs along the way. In 2002, Fred and Linda moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, where they created a truly special home "on the mountain", known also as "The Escarpment". Their unique home offered him the perfect opportunity to pursue his favorite pastimes of woodworking, gardening, and entertaining friends and family. He was a creative man with an appreciation for art and a love for music. The Traylors have been active members of Kings Highway Christian Church for three generations. A memorial service officiated by Reverend Bill McDonald, will be held there on June 25, 2013 at 1PM with visitation from 11 - 1PM in the parlor. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetary. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to wear brightly colored clothing to honor Fred's personal flair and his unbridled love of life. The family must thank all the good doctors who cared for Fred along the way and the caring staff at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. Also, we thank Jim Beadles, whom we relied on to tirelessly carry us through this year with his broad shoulders and his loving kindness.
